Automobiles in German Town Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were alerted by a individual who discovered a car in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a release.

Police report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Police then found many other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement say preliminary tests suggest the fluid was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to its source; authorities are currently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for details.

A senior representative commented the incident rendered him without words and needed to be solved promptly.

"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine victims by a assailant aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
